Keeping Children SafeChildren have the right to be protected from abuse and harm at all times and in all situations. Child Protection is the responsibility of every adult who has involvement with children. Neglected and abused children are in our society, in every walk of life. As adults, we have a responsibility to help children in need. We have the ability to improve a child's future and can make a difference by intervening. At Keeping Children Safe we want to raise awareness of child abuse and neglect. We need people to understand their role, to take action and help prevent children suffering. We provide training giving help and guidance on what signs to look out for, the different types of abuse and neglect. What to do if you suspect a child is at risk of harm and what will happen next? All organisations and people working with children must also learn about and abide by the Protection of Children Scotland Act 2003. Keeping Children Safe is operated from a base in Inverness, covering the Highland Area. We were set up to provide Child Protection training to those working in paid or unpaid positions in the Voluntary Sector. This makes it quite a challenge to reach all the workers and groups in the Highland Voluntary Sector who might be invloved with children, families and those affected by POCSA (Protection of Children Scotland Act 2003). Some clubs or associations might not realise they have a responsibility or need to have this training. They might not know where to get the training. Advertising and spreading the word will hopefully combat this problem. |
